Hi! Nice to
meet you.
Andreas Djupvik was born and raised in the western part of Norway, more precisely between the mountains in a small city called Førde. During his studies, Andreas got to try out a wide range of directions within the field of industrial design and came to the realization that working with physical/tangible product design is what intrigue him the most. Andreas find it specially interesting to work with cars, boats, furniture, consumer products and packaging.
During his Master's degree in Trondheim. Andreas worked on projects within various nieches of industrial design: mechatronics, healthcare, design strategies, interactive media, structural packaging and public furniture. Some of the projects has been individual, but most of them has been group projects and some also with external partners. By working with several different teams and projects at the same time, as well as also working on the side, Andreas felt that he had learned to coordinate and schedule for hectic periods.
In the spring of 2019 Andreas finished his master degree with a thesis in collaboration with Sintef Manufacturing. The task was to develop a concept car for the future- Which was an eye-opening, exciting and very challenging task.
In 2017, Andreas graduated from NTNU Gjøvik, where he took a bachelor in "Technology, design and management". This education focuses largely on product development and management skills. He learned a lot about 3D-modelling (Solidworks), material science, production and rapid prototyping. Andreas also got familiar with marketing, branding and project management.
As part of his study at NTNU Gjøvik Andreas had an exchange semester at California State University Monterey Bay. There he worked a lot with entrepreneurship, excel, operation management and supply chain management. Maybe more importantly it widened his horizon about meeting and get to know people from other cultures, learning the language and experience the cultural differences and similarities between countries. Andreas’s bachelor thesis was in collaboration with Amok Equipment: “Redesign of fasteners for Camping hammock tent using the framework Axiomatic Design and Living Lab”. The background for the project was that Amok Equipment wanted to improve their fasteners with regard of especially the ease of use. Throughout the project the team developed a lot of prototypes, with 10 concepts and approximately 40 iterations, which all was tested with the hammock. Calculations were done on forces acting on the fastenings as well as strength simulations (in SolidWorks) and final 3D-print in titanium. The team also did tensile testing to validate the final solution.
Andreas was previously employed at Moltzau Packaging located closely to Oslo, Norway. Andreas's position in the company was as a product developer/structural packaging designer. At Moltzau, Andreas worked with developing and designing packaging solutions in cartonboard, which also gets manufactured in the same building. The projects could involve everything from replacing plastic use in existing packaging solutions- to designing new and unique packaging solutions based on customer needs and requirements.
Andreas is currently employed at Rema 1000 in Oslo, Norway. His position is related to packaging design, development and management within the department of Innovation and private labels.
